Your thoughts on Tiger Woods made me realize the power of a spiritual life in a quite unexpected way. The great thing they say about golf (and I've hear it explained in the zen of golf),is that unlike any other sport where you're paying against a team, in golf you are ultimately playing against yourself. Restraint, focus, the ability to think about the next shot vs. ruminate on the last one. All these are about taming the inner beast.
What a perfect way to think about life too really. We're ultimately just playing against ourselves. Tiger's brilliance at golf, for all that it has won him in terms of recognition and fame, has been played on the external level only. His great opportunity is to play golf internally and win on the most important and challenging course in the world: The spiritual level.
It's everyone's challenge really. We're all Tiger in that way.
